FYI: Target Will Not Be Open on Thanksgiving This Year

As the holiday season approaches, many of us are keeping tracking about what stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day to make sure we know where to run if we've forgotten a last-minute ingredient for our Thanksgiving desserts or if we're mapping out our Black Friday shopping plan.

Most of us will be looking to local big-box retailers like Target, Walmart and Sam's Club as they are some of the most convinent places to shop during the holidays. If you're go-to store is Target, read on to see what the company's plans are for Thanksgiving Day 2021 (which is November 25, BTW!)

Is Target open on Thanksgiving 2021?

In a recent blog post on the company's website, Target confirmed that it will not be open on Thanksgiving in 2021. In previous years, most Target stores opened at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving with door-busting deals to kickoff shopping to make Black Friday history. However, in 2020, Target announced for the first time ever it would be closed and decided to follow suit again this year. "The response was so positive that we’ll carry it forward this year, keeping our Target stores closed all day long on Thanksgiving Day. This is just one example of how our evolving strategy is meeting the needs of our business and our guests,"

The specifics about Black Friday shopping at Target remain up in the air, but we imagine like last year, the company will be having pretty incredible deals happening way before November 26.

Target joins a growing list of major retailers who are opting to close their doors on Thanksgiving. Walmart and Sam's Club led the way in 2020, announcing that they would keep their stores closed on Thanksgiving in hopes to give their store associates quality time at home after a "trying year." They are doing the same for 2021.
