Gabby Douglas Is So Not One of the Kids at the Kids' Choice Sports Awards

When someone says the name Gabby Douglas, do you picture the cute “Flying Squirrel” of the 2012 Olympics? Even though she was a more mature 20-year-old as one of the Final Five last year, that first image is still stuck in our heads. Which is maybe why seeing Douglas looking sultry in a glamorous crop top and skirt on the orange carpet of the Kids’ Choice Sports Awards made our jaws drop.

The gymnast had already wowed at the ESPYs on Wednesday night in a floor-length light-pink dress adorned with a map of the world in black lace and dark-blue satin. On Thursday night, she was really strutting her stuff in her black, sequined two-piece outfit. Her half-up wavy hairstyle and smoky eyes with a hint of electric-blue liner, paired with nude lip, completed the sophisticated look. She may have been at an awards show for kids, but she was making quite a statement about being all grown up.

21 sass

“21 sass,” she captioned a Boomerang of herself dancing on the carpet, alluding to her current age. She really seemed to be enjoying posing for the cameras and captioning her photos later on Instagram with descriptions like, “Such a tease,” and, “Barbie.” We kind of hope she’s angling to become the world’s first 4’11 supermodel. What’s certain is that Douglas is over all those demands that hounded her during Rio that she be a nonstop, smiling pep machine.

Two of Douglas’ 2016 teammates were also at the event. Favorite Female Athlete nominee Simone Biles wore a figure hugging lavender mini-dress. Aly Raisman — who had her chance to show her sexier side in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue earlier this year — was the most youthful of the three, in a Dolce & Gabbana sailor dress. The Kids’ Choice Sports Awards airs on Nickelodeon, Sunday at 8 p.m.
