Gabrielle Union, Our Favorite Clovers Cheer Captain, Says She’d Be Up For Another 'Bring It On' Movie

I said brr, it's cold in here. There must be some sequels in the atmosphere. At least there could be, according to everyone's favorite Clover cheer team captain, Gabrielle Union, who says she'd definitely be up to revisiting her Bring It On days.

"Bring It On is the gift that has been giving for almost 20 years," Union tells Woman's Day. "People have been wanting a sequel with the original cast and director and writers, so every so often we toss those ideas around."

And thanks to the popularity of Netflix's cheerleading docu-series Cheer, people seem to want to revisit the cult classic cheerleading movie more than ever. Union says that cheerleading has been popular for years, but does credit the show for cheerleading's newfound "resurgence in pop culture."

"Especially with the young man Jerry, I think people are wondering what other takes there could be with a Bring It On sequel, maybe told from a different perspective," she says. "We’re always all open to it, that would be really awesome."

Kirstin Dunst, who stared in the film as captain of the rival team the Toros, has also recently said she'd be happy to do a sequel. "If they wanted to make another movie, I would make another movie, why not?" she said on The Kelly Clarkson Show. "Oh my god, it'd be so great, it's so fun."

With the two rival cheer captains ready to face off again, we can only hope someone gets to work on a script. "Kirstin and I are down," Union says. "I think all the original players are super open and down and willing."

In the meantime, we'll be over here warming up our Herkies and keeping our fingers — and poms — crossed.
