Genshin Impact advises players who log in via Twitter to switch after API changes
The changes could cause log in issues for players who linked their Genshin Impact accounts to their Twitter accounts

With Twitter recently announcing changes to its API, Genshin Impact players who use their Twitter accounts to log in to the game may now need to relink their accounts to a different log-in method.
API stands for Application Programming Interface and is the software interface that allows two different applications to communicate with one another.
@TwitterDev, the official account for Twitter’s development team, announced on Thursday (2 February) that the social media site will no longer support free access to the API beginning on 9 February.
Companies, websites, and applications who use Twitter’s log-in feature will instead have to avail a basic paid tier scheme to continue API access.
This policy change is one of many that attempt to monetise Twitter since billionaire Elon Musk purchased the company last year.
As a response to this announcement, Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse has asked players who use the game's “log in with Twitter” function to link their accounts to their emails to avoid any future log-in problems.
HoYoverse said in a tweet that they are "in the process of confirming the impact of the Twitter API adjustments on game account login".
The developer added that they are looking for "corresponding resolutions" and encouraged players to link their email address for their account through the official HoYoverse account page.
This isn't the first time that Genshin Impact players have encountered issues when logging into the game through third-party sites.
Last month, HoYoverse warned players about a growing number of cases of unauthorised logins and account theft as a result of phishing sites from unknown sources.
The developer said it found that many of the affected accounts "have logged in to third-party websites and applications from unknown sources", opening them up to phishing attacks.
