Front-loading washers have a dirty little secret. When moisture, detergent residue, and bacteria build up inside the drum, well, they stink. If you have one, you've likely noticed the odor that not only permeates the machine but can linger in your clothes, too. Until now, the remedy has been to leave the door open and dry the seal with a towel. But not anymore. Thanks to GE's genius design and state-of-the technology, it's no longer a chore to clean the machine that cleans your clothes.

WHY IT EARNED THE GH SEAL

GE's new washer wowed our GH Cleaning Lab experts not only for its odor-busting abilities but for its great cleaning prowess and bonus features that will handle any load you toss its way.

  1. PERFORMS PRECISELY A washer's main job is to clean well, and this one delivers. In our GH Cleaning Lab tests, it did a super job removing set-in stains from cotton and polyester fabrics in warm and cold water. Its SmartDispense system holds up to 50 oz. of detergent and releases the right amount for every load.

  2. ELIMINATES MOLD & ODOR After a wash, select the UltraFresh Vent option, which pulls in air to dry the drum. Parts like the door seal are treated with Microban, an additive that helps prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria, so there's no need to leave the door ajar.

  3. BRIMS WITH BELLS & WHISTLES Along with the usual cycles, some UltraFresh models boast a 1-Step Wash + Dry option. Start a small load at night, and it's clean and dried (no heat) by morning! All models work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

  4. OPERATES SMOOTHLY We've tested machines that seem as if you need an engineering degree (which some of us have!) to operate them. Not this GE. The dial and buttons are well lit and easy to read and use. The dispenser drawer is large and a cinch to fill without spilling.
