Gigi Hadid gushes over 2-year-old daughter Khai: 'She's a blessing'
Gigi Hadid is opening up about motherhood.
In a preview from Sunday, Sept. 11th’s episode of Sunday Today with Willie Geist, the model — who just launched her new fashion line Guest in Residence — gave an update on life with 2-year-old daughter Khai. The star shares her only child with her former partner, One Direction alum Zayn Malik.
“I think she's a genius,” Hadid gushed. “That's what everyone says about their kid. It's so much fun. The more that she talks and understands and remembers it just gets more and more fun and she's a blessing.”
She shared that Khai is very “mobile” at the moment, which adds an additional complication to parenting the toddler.
“She’s so mobile, from so early in the morning. So mobile. Jumping off things. Very brave, which is great, but you know,” she explained. “We're practicing doing dangerous things carefully. That’s what I’m going to go for.”
Earlier this year, Hadid spoke to InStyle about her “smart and so aware” little one. She said at the time, “A lot of my mom friends feel like that, and we're nearing the first couple years [with our kids]. You're obsessed with them, but sometimes you turn and you're like, 'Oh my god. Where did you come from?'"
She also said she’s excited to teach Khai some new skills, once she hits the right age.
"I'm really excited to take Khai skiing one day, because I learned to ski when I was, like, 2," she explained. "We're getting close."
In a May 2021 Instagram post, she shared a rare series of photos of her child in honor of Mother’s Day.
“The rumors are true: my best friend, purpose, muse, greatest pride & joy! I feel so lucky and inspired bein your mama, my Khai,” she wrote at the time. “An old soul full of sunshine, you light up everyone’s days!”
She first swooned over Khai on social media with a sweet message announcing the birth of her daughter. The mom shared just how special she found her child alongside a black and white photo of Khai, writing, “Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love.”
