Gordon Ramsay has defended Brooklyn Beckham after fans slated his cooking, saying he "didn't ask for that level of intrusion from having famous parents".

The 23-year-old – who is the eldest son of Spice Girl-turned-designer Victoria and football star David Beckham – is a budding chef and shares his culinary videos with his followers online.

But a recent attempt at the ultimate Sunday roast horrified fans who said the beef looked so raw that "a good vet could bring it back to life", and he was mocked when he made a simple sandwich on the Today show's cooking segment.

However, celebrity chef Ramsay has now waded in, telling MailOnline that he is "pleased" Brooklyn is pursuing cooking.

Ramsay, 56, is very good friends with Victoria and David and his children grew up with Brooklyn and his siblings Romeo, Cruz and Harper.

The Hell's Kitchen star – a father-of-five – said he hadn't seen the beef roast clip that has got everybody talking.

"But even as a 12-year-old, whilst playing football, Brooklyn was always excited about food," he said.

"So I'm pleased that he's gone down that road and he's found something he really enjoys doing."

He added: "It's hard, isn't it? Because he didn't ask for that level of intrusion from having famous parents. It probably came off a certain way, but it's not his fault. So I have no issues against it."
