We Got Our Hands on the New Kit-Kat Duos Mint + Dark Chocolate
In case you didn't know, Kit-Kat is coming out with a duos flavor in the United States, the first time they've introduced a new flavor in the U.S. in a decade. The Kit-Kat Duos Mint + Dark Chocolate is a fun spin on the beloved flavor combination of mint and chocolate. But the flavor isn't coming out until December! To see if it was worth the initial hype, we had to try this Kit-Kat ourselves.
To put it simply, the Kit-Kat Duos is a refreshing option to the original Kit-Kat if you really like the taste of mint. Neither flavor was overwhelming but the mint definitely overpowered the dark chocolate (and for people who don't like mint, well, this isn't for you!). The green coat on top is similar to the color of the now-popular matcha with its thicker strip of flavor compared to that of the dark chocolate.
Woman's Day Editorial Assistant, Mackenzie Dunn, quickly pointed out that it reminded her of another minty product. "I was pleasantly surprised! It tastes like those Andes Mints you get after a meal at a restaurant but with the crunch of a Kit-Kat wafer inside. Refreshing!" Andes are made by an entirely different company, so there hasn't been any flavor-sharing here, but the Kit-Kat is definitely reminiscent of the chocolate-y bites.
The mint flavor didn't linger for too long after and as someone who doesn't like mint chocolate, I found myself taking just another small bite (the team had to share one bar because it was such an exclusive first sample) and feeling satisfied with that.
Woman's Day Executive Editor, Annemarie Conte, quickly had some other ideas on what she could use the new Kit-Kat bar for. "I would chop this up and sprinkle it on top of Grasshopper Bars. This is school-bake-sale gold."
Overall, it was a pleasant experience and the Duos is a nice option to have when you want to get something different than the original flavor. Sorry you'll have to wait until winter to try it. Maybe with a little lobbying Nestle will release this new flavor sooner!
