Richard Rangel never thought a romantic gesture would make him an overnight internet sensation. But that’s what happened with the California teen, who asked his boo out by writing her 21 love notes, drawing, at the end of each one, a big bold letter that when combined with the rest spelled out “Would you be my girlfriend?” The tweeted image is going viral with 8,000 likes and 2,000 retweets.

Richard complied the love letters in a binder and recorded the whole process in a series of videos, including his surprised girlfriend’s reaction to the sweet gesture.

Here is a more detailed look at the binder, the cover of which is adorned with photos of the couple.

Richard, who would not reveal his age, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that he and his new girlfriend, Pricilla, met through a mutual friend six months ago.

The teens seem so happy even before they gained internet fame thanks to the sweet gesture.

Now Richard says he is “shook” by all the support the Twitterverse is showing the California teens.

We wish the new happy couple the best of luck.
