Hailey Bieber Opens Up About Marriage to Justin Bieber and "Possessive" Fans

"They just think they know these people who are famous because their life is so exposed."

Hailey Bieber has been married to Justin for approximately five months. But being married to a superstar isn't always easy (especially when you're a superstar too). Now, the model is opening up about her frustrations with fame — and the Belieber community of mega-stans.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Hailey explained that she has definitely experienced her fair share of issues with fame and the constant scrutiny that comes along with having a social media presence, especially one as popular as hers — and Justin’s.

“The problem too is kids become possessive over people and feel like if they think they’re hurt, they feel hurt for them and they’re hurt too, or whatever it is,” she explained. “They just think they know these people who are famous because their life is so exposed. And that’s what gets me, I think, the most frustrated.”

Hailey also added that while fans think they know what’s going on in their favorite stars’ lives, what gets posted to social media isn’t the full story. “I’m like, you actually don’t know me. You don’t know him. You don’t know her, you don’t know these people for real. What’s really weird to me is they create scenarios in their head of what they think is happening or what they think should happen, and I’m just like, ‘This is just so dumb. It’s so dumb.’"

While Hailey may not be explicitly talking about Justin’s fans, it’s true that the Belieber community is passionate about the singer, and they can sometimes go a little too far when it comes to their fave. Justin recently told fans to “relax” when Shawn Mendes liked a pic of Hailey, and a few years ago, Beliebers attacked Sofia Richie online after he called her “beautiful.”

Hailey, too, has talked about unplugging from social from time to time, saying that Instagram and other social platforms can do “something to your soul” if you begin to take it too seriously.

Hailey and Justin have dealt with a lot online, and it’s easy to forget that they’re people too; they have lives, experiences, and feelings just like us, and what they choose to share on social is just a fraction of the whole story. When the Biebers want us to know something, they’ll tell us — and we should support and respect them both online and offline either way.
