While the 2021 Golden Globe Awards were much different than years past, host Amy Poehler still did the damn thing — and looked great while doing it.

But, of course, working a big-time hosting gig like this requires you to work with a big-time team. That's why celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern was there to craft all of the star's glam for the evening.

To create the perfect canvas for Poehler's award show makeup, Stern shares that she spent a significant amount of time on skincare to ensure smooth application.

"I have found that the more I give in the beginning with luxurious products, tool stimulation, and massage the better the skin looks," she says.

Stern began using an array of products from Natura Bissé, including the Diamond Instant Glow and Vitamin C+C Cream. She then followed up with Pause Well-Aging's Fascia Stimulating Tool to massage the products in.

Next, it was time for makeup.

Stern used Armani Beauty products on Poehler for the night. Starting off with complexion, the makeup artist used Luminous Silk Hydrating Makeup Primer as a base, followed by the brand's cult-favorite Luminous Silk Foundation in 3.

For eyes, Stern began by using Armani's Eye Tint Liquid Eyeshadow in 9 on the center of her lids, followed by the Eyes to Kill Quattro Eyeshadow Palette in 8. The makeup artist blended the darker brown shade with the peach color to contour the eye, while also crafting a smoky finish. She then made a quick decision when it came down to her liner of choice.

"At the last minute I decided to add Armani Beauty Eyes To Kill Designer Eyeliner in 3 'Cobolt' and very tightly lined her upper lash line," Stern shares with InStyle. "This made the blue of her eyes pop!"

The makeup artist finished off with Eyes To Kill Lengthening Mascara to give Poehler bold, fluttery lashes.

And then last, but certainly not least: the lips. For the host's nude-to-pop-of-color look, Stern started off with Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in 101, followed by 304.

For those who may be interested in learning how to recreate Poehler's look for their next video call, Stern leaves you with a few simple tips.

"Get your skin stimulated! Massage your face cream in for a good five minutes — don't rush the prep process," she suggests. "Use a foundation that allows you to still see your natural complexion shining through. You don't want to look heavy. When adding metallic to the eyes keep it center to the lid, this opens the eye up."

And finally, for those who love neutral glam, "Don't be afraid to play up the cheek, it's a great balance for a nude lip."

When it came to Poehler's hair, stylist Kylee Heath used the Olivia Garden OGE-BT45 brush to give the star a blowout. She followed up with Philip B. Lovin' Pomade for shine, then the Jet Set Precision Control Hair Spray to keep the host's hair in place.
