Blake Shelton, like the rest of The Voice viewers, is still reeling after the bombshell news that Adam Levine is not returning to the NBC show next season.

Though Adam had originally been slated to coach alongside Blake, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend, host Carson Daly announced in May that Adam had decided to step down. It’s not all bad news, though, as Blake’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani is replacing Adam in the big red chair.

Still, Blake is mourning the loss of his longtime coworker and professional frenemy. The veteran coaches have been on the series together since day one, and Blake took to Twitter to show just how much he’ll miss their playful banter.

“Having a hard time wrapping my head around [Adam Levine] not being at [The Voice] anymore,” he wrote. “After 16 seasons that changed both of our lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.”

Blake and Adam are known for jabbing each other during the episodes (though some fans thought Adam took it a little too far this year), but the duo are also close pals. Blake’s heartbreaking message had an emotional effect on his followers, who said it “hurt my heart” and “that ain’t right.”

Fortunately, Blake has Gwen to help him dull the pain. Still, every Voice superfan will miss the bromance that was Shevine when the show returns this fall.
