Hoda Kotb Has Huge Career News and ‘Today’ Show Fans Are Going to Lose It

The Today show family just couldn’t pass up an opportunity to celebrate Hoda Kotb and all of her incredible accomplishments this week.
On Monday, the 57-year-old broadcast journalist was surprised when past and present cohosts gathered to share heartwarming messages about her three-decade-long career and help honor Hoda as a Matrix Award winner, an accolade that recognizes outstanding women in communications.
"Hoda's story is so inspirational, because she just was up against all odds to even get her first job in television," former cohost Kathie Lee Gifford said. “She has worked so hard to get where she is, but she never forgets where she’s from,” cohost Jenna Bush Hager added. "Hoda does serious news interviews along with the best of them," weather anchor Al Roker chimed in. “She has an amazing way of connecting with people,” fellow Today star Savannah Guthrie said. “She's somebody who's ever-evolving and never satisfied to stop learning. And to me, that is a role model for all women in communications."
Upon receiving recognition, Hoda was overcome with gratitude and reflected back on how far she's come. “All of my professional dreams came true. I had a lifetime at Dateline. I had a lifetime with Kathie Lee and now Jenna, and now I have a new lifetime with Savannah on the early hours. Every professional dream came true for me,” Hoda said.
The mother of two then spilled that Savannah, a past Matrix Award recipient herself, once gave her a piece of advice that she's never forgotten. “If you want something bad enough, say it out loud,” Hoda said. “A friend once said, 'Even if you whisper in the bathroom mirror to yourself’ … So say your dreams out loud, if you speak them, sometimes they do come true.”
Needless to say, Hoda’s fans wasted no time flooding the Today with Hoda and Jenna's official Instagram comments section to share heartfelt words with her. “Very well deserved… Hoda is such an amazing, beautiful person! ❤️,” one person said. “So happy for you, Hoda and well deserved. Enjoy all the accolades. You are a gift to all!” another added. “I’m sure Hoda is like the rest of us and has bad days but you would never know it. Always smiling and happy. She is the best person for this award!!!” a follower commented.
Apart from starring on Today’s third hour, Hoda is also a best-selling author, including her inspirational quote books I Really Needed This Today: Words to Live By and This Just Speaks to Me: Words to Live by Every Day. What’s more, she’s encouraging people to find happiness in life in her new podcast called Making Space with Hoda Kotb.
