Hunter and Ming transformed this school bus into their pastel dream home

Why rent an apartment when you can own a bus and turn it into your dream home? Traveling couple Hunter and Ming (@busmeetsworld) were burdened by the housing market and decided to stop renting an apartment so they could buy and renovate a bus! On this episode of Dream Big, Live Small, take a tour of Hunter and Ming’s bus home, affectionately named Topanga!

“It’s nice to be able to own a home,” Ming says about the renovated school bus. “Even though we had to put $40,000 into it, at least we own that. It isn’t going to someone else.”

Ming and Hunter, along with their baby, Calum, and dog, travel across the US running their business of hosting pop-up portrait photoshoots at various locations (@wanderingwetplates).

Their bus has all the comforts any home would have, and then some! Guests will first notice the bright pink artificial turf that lines the entryway, setting a kooky tone for the rest of Topanga’s decor.

Ming begins the bus tour by showcasing the big comfy couch that folds out to a king sized bed. On the wall across from the bed is a 70-inch TV that allows the family to watch TV and play video games very comfortably. “It’s a little ridiculous but sometimes we like to play Super Smash Bros. on it and some other fun Mario Party games,” admits Ming.

The bus’ kitchen is equipped with ample storage, a working stovetop, and fold-out table. A little further behind the kitchen area is a gorgeous working fireplace “that does so well in the winter, you have no idea,” gushes Ming.

Further into the bus is a closet space where the family stores all their clothes. And while many mobile homes have outdoor showers, Hunter and Ming installed a well-sized working indoor shower that would be impressive even in a non-mobile home.

The back of the bus hosts the fridge, stocked with tons of delicious food, and Hunter and Ming’s office space.

Wheels or no wheels, Topanga is a beautiful home that anyone would be lucky to live in!
