Looking for the perfect gift idea for the chef in your life? Let us introduce you to the Always Pan by Our Place.

It’s a cult-favourite multipurpose cooking tool that’s become a go-to for thousands of shoppers, and at one point had a 30,000 person wait list.

The Always Pan is constantly selling out thanks to shoutouts from editors and Instagram influencers alike, and right now it’s on sale ahead of Black Friday for the lowest price it’s ever been. Normally retailing for $190 ($145 USD), you can now shop the ultra-popular Always Pan for just $125 ($95 USD) when you use the code SUPERSALE.

First impressions

I received the 8-in-1 Always Pan in the colour Spice, which is basically a more subdued version of Millennial pink, and it was love at first sight. The pan features a textured aluminum exterior with a nonstick ceramic coating for cooking, and clever details like a built-in spoon rest and a coated handle that stays cool while in use.

Each pan also comes with a nesting steamer basket that doubles as a colander, and a wooden spatula that fits perfectly into its designated spot. I was impressed by all of the thoughtful details that went into the design of this pan, which are evident in all of the unique features it includes.

Price-wise, it’s on par with many other premium kitchenware brands at its regular retail price of $190 for the entire set. Unlike other brands though, you’re getting much more than just a sauce pan and a lid, making it a versatile tool that fits right into any kitchen.

In the kitchen

Looks aside, this pan most importantly needs to hold up in the kitchen. To put it to the test, I’ve been making a variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will admit that the Always Pan does everything it’s advertised to.

I’ve used my fair share of nonstick cookware in the past, and while most of them are just okay, it’s nothing that I would rave about. With the Always Pan though, my coworkers were the first to know about the omelette I cooked that rivalled a pro’s.

Considering that an omelette is pretty tame, I wanted to also test out more features of the Always Pan with a more challenging recipe. I decided to cook up a stir fry, first steaming some veggies in the pan before sautéing them in a sticky, garlicky sauce. Normally, sauces like that tend to stick, but I had no issues tossing the Always Pan into the dishwasher (yes, it’s dishwasher safe!) to find it squeaky clean at the end of the cycle.

The final verdict

While there are many pluses to the Always Pan, there are a couple of small issues that I only encountered once I started cooking with it. At three pounds, it’s certainly lighter than a cast iron pan, but is significantly heavier than most cookware that I’ve used in the past. It’s a minor problem, but one that’s definitely noticeable if you’re attempting to pick the pan up one-handed.

Now that I’ve been cooking with my Always Pan for a few months, I’ve also found the ceramic coating and painted exterior can be slightly fragile. You’ll want to take care not to bang it around or use too much force while stirring, since miniature scratches started to appear before I realized that I need to be a little more delicate while I cook.

Aside from these slight inconveniences that I’m sure I’ll get used to over time, I’d absolutely recommend the Always Pan based on its true nonstick capabilities and the fact that it’s just so pretty to look at. The current Black Friday savings are also a huge incentive, since it’s rare that the Always Pan ever goes on sale at all.

Just be sure to scoop one up before it sells out again!
