"iCarly" Reboot Premiere Shared What Happened to Sam Puckett

After much anticipation, the reboot of iCarly is finally streaming on Paramount+ and the series' pilot episode answered one of fans’ most pressing questions: Where is Sam Puckett?

During the show's first episode, Carly Shay and Freddie Benson (played by Miranda Cosgrove and Nathan Kress, respectively) share a convo about getting into content-making once again. They emphasize how this time around, it’s a one-person game – meaning Carly will be hosting iCarly’s weekly webcast alone.

The seemingly trivial conversation soon becomes the answer to Sam’s mysterious whereabouts, just like Miranda had promised earlier this month. “I need Sam, but she’s off following her bliss with that biker gang,” Carly informs viewers. “The Obliterators. Hope she’s okay,” Freddie responds. “It’s Sam. I hope they’re okay… I just wish she was here so we could do iCarly again,” Carly then says.

Back in March, Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam on the original Nickelodeon series, revealed she had no intention of joining the revival and that, in fact, she had quit entertainment altogether. “I quit a few years ago because I initially didn't want to do it,” she recounted, admitting that she found audition processes particularly difficult. “I'm so ashamed of the parts I've done in the past. I resent my career in a lot of ways," she also added. “I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing. I did the shows that I was on from like 13 to 21, and by 15, I was already embarrassed.”

Hopefully, the reboot’s first episode will provide some closure for fans who were wondering what Sam was up to. But if you still want more Sam, Miranda did tease the cast will also "mention her a little bit throughout the season.”
