The first wife of I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here’s Caitlyn Jenner has revealed the trans star told her about wanting to be a woman over forty years ago.

Jenner was born male and was named Bruce before coming out as a trans woman in 2015 following her split from third wife Kris Jenner - matriarch in the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which has made household names of stars Kim Kardashian, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

But first wife Chrystie Scott has now revealed Caitlyn first told her about a ‘fantasy’ of being a woman way back in 1972.

The couple were married between 1971 and 1982, during which time they had two children, and Caitlyn, as Bruce, won a gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games.

Speaking to The Mirror, the 69-year-old spoke of her shock that her “boy next door” husband, harboured desires of being a girl.

She said: “I had no idea he felt that way when he confessed to me he wanted to be a girl.

“I was shocked. He was so masculine. It never occurred to me it might have caused him anxiety. There was no indication in any area of our marriage.

“He said it was a fantasy and he wasn’t going to act on his desire. I had never seen him dressing up in women’s clothes or anything like that.”

She also spoke of Jenner’s transition, and says when Caitlyn was Bruce she was her “hero”.

“When I first saw Caitlyn I couldn’t stop staring,” she said.

“It was a shock and still is. I prefer him male. Bruce was my hero – he was a great guy and he’s gone through so many changes, and I can’t say they’re good.”

I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here 2019 starts on ITV at 9pm tonight.
