Influencers allegedly test positive for COVID-19 after ‘irresponsible’ house parties: ‘Y’all caused an outbreak’
Several prominent social media influencers are being accused of spreading coronavirus after allegedly hosting parties where “a lot” of attendees were infected.
The accusations, which are currently unproven, specifically are targeted at a party hosted by model and internet personality Tana Mongeau. According to TooFab, the party took place in Los Angeles sometime around July 25.

Now, several influencers who attended the event are claiming they tested positive for COVID-19 shortly afterward. One alleged attendee shared their experience in a Twitter message to comedian Dennis Feitosa.
“A few people I know who were there tested positive right after,” the influencer, who asked to remain anonymous, told Feitosa. “I don’t know how many people in her house tested positive after, but I do know some of them did.”

The influencer said they self-quarantined when they got sick, but claimed they knew of several attendees who “continued to go out” after testing positive.
“I can’t believe they are still doing this,” the influencer added. “But the parties aren’t stopping either! I got invited to one last night!”
Mongeau, who is 22, shared an Instagram video of herself at the party, in which she said, “Listen, we don’t f****** care. Sorry.” She’s since apologized for hosting the party, calling it a “careless and irresponsible action.”

Erika Costell, a 27-year-old YouTuber who also appeared in Mongeau’s video, also issued an apology on Twitter. She added that Mongeau’s comments were not referring to the pandemic.
The accusations went beyond Mongeau’s party, though. The influencer who messaged Feitosa claimed they knew of other, similar Los Angeles-based events.
Comedian Elijah Daniel furthered those rumors, tweeting that “a lot” of influencers had “confirmed” they’d been at parties where several attendees later tested positive.
“And [the influencers who tested positive] aren’t saying anything & aren’t warning people they came in contact with after,” Daniel wrote. “If you attended, get tested. yall caused an outbreak. thanks!”
It’s unclear exactly which parties the allegations refer to, but several influencers have come under fire for hosting large gatherings in recent weeks.
On July 11, YouTuber Jake Paul hosted a party at his home, which was attended by Mongeau and other influencers like Bryce Hall and Arman Izadi. Videos from the event seemed to show a limited degree of social distancing.

Insider also confirmed a similar party at Hype House, the California-based home occupied by several prominent TikTok influencers.
That event, which had an estimated 67 attendees, featured internet celebrities like Mongeau, Nikita Dragun, James Charles and Emma Chamberlain. TikTokers Charli and Dixie D’Amelio were also reportedly in attendance.
Those parties led to a wave of public backlash, as well as frustration from other social media influencers. YouTube Tyler Oakley slammed the events last month, calling the attendees “bad influences.”

However, the messages to Feitosa are some of the earliest evidence that the parties may have actually resulted in infections.
The claims are all still unproven, but they have become increasingly worrisome as California’s case count continues to rise. The state now has more than 500,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
