The biggest perk that comes with being a beauty editor is receiving endless boxes of free skincare and makeup to review. But as I slowly look at the growing pile by my desk, I have to admit, it’s been a while I was sincerely excited about a new launch. Don’t get me wrong: I love learning about the science and inspiration behind new launches, I just wish there were more that could deliver anything else but false hope. If I do have anything more than a mediocre reaction to something, it’s rare — considering how much I love the Ole Henriksen’s PHAT Glow Facial Mask.

I’ve come across tons of masks over the years, and this one-step mask is one of the few that delivers results as promised. Formulated power-packed PHAs and AHAs to help even skin tone and texture through chemical exfoliation, it deeply retexturizes to reveal smoother skin with no recovery time. Targeting all skin concerns across the board (acne, large pores, fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, sensitivity), its pink bentonite clay gently works to plump skin with hydration to help condition skin first to better detoxify and penetrate without irritation.

While I’ve always favoured gel-like textured masks, its unique delivery system has won me over onto rich and gummy consistencies. It comes out rose-hued and thick out of its pump bottle and magically transforms into a white creamy formula upon working it into the skin. After 15 minutes and good thorough rise, you’d think your skin went through an hour of an in-spa treatment.

While the OLEHENRIKSEN PHAT Glow Facial Mask retails at a $66, to me, it’s worth every penny, and fans agree. With more than 1,600 reviews and 40,000 “loves” on Sephora’s website, it’s ranked as one of the top-selling formulas across both the categories of masks and clean beauty.

“This is one of the best masks I’ve ever used. I put it on when my skin is looking tired or dull and it does wonders in terms of adding life back into my skin,” reads one five-star review. “I have very dry and sensitive skin and it doesn’t bother me at all. I plan to continue purchasing this. I use about once a week and it has lasted me over a month too so don’t let the small bottle fool you. The scent is amazing too, so unique.”

“OMG I love this stuff! It is the most gentle PHA exfoliating mask I’ve ever used. It smells lovely and it makes my skin so incredibly soft and supple. Makeup goes on like a dream and dark spots vanish. I love it,” reads another.

I seriously love this mask. While it only came out last summer, it has been my only repeat beauty purchase in the past five years — it’s like a luxurious facial in the bottle. Surpassing all of my expectations, it controls my breakouts, oily T-zone and instantly delivers a brighter and more radiant complexion all in one go. Hence the name PHAT Glow. While it’s recommended to use twice a week for the best results, I’d shorten your masking time to once every 10 days and save as much product as you can because the results will actually last!
