How to do J.Lo's 'highly recommended' 10-day challenge diet

"No sugar, no carbs. No problem!"

Earlier this year, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez famously kicked off the new year by taking on a difficult lifestyle change in the 10-Day Challenge.

While taking on the popular short-term no-carb, no-sugar diet, J.Lo, 49, and A-Rod, 43, urged their followers, as well as the likes of Hoda Kotb and Leah Remini, to join in on the challenge with them on Instagram. Along the way, the couple showed off the astounding results of their work, including a particularly notable photo of J.Lo's six-pack.

The so-called 10-Day Challenge was made popular by Mark Hyman, MD through his best-selling book, "The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet: Activate Your Body's Natural Ability to Burn Fat and Lose Weight Fast," which was originally published in 2014.

Hyman, who you may recognize from his appearances on "The Dr. Oz Show," "sensibly encourages readers to avoid processed foods" during the 10-day experiment in self control. Dr. Oz himself described the method as an "energy-boosting weight loss program that will transform your health and vitality," while Ariana Huffington said it's "a roadmap to a healthier body, mind and spirit."

Reviewers on Amazon stood just as firmly behind the 10-Day Challenge as its celebrity fans have, with one person claiming that he "lost 12 lbs. in the first 10 days, a total of 21 lbs. in the first 30 days and now 30 lbs. total in the first 50 days. [...] Highly recommended."

Another called it "pretty awesome," adding, "I can't say enough good things about how this book is written. It makes so much intelligent sense."
