Jane Fonda covers British Vogue at age 81: 'What a woman!'

Never mind rocking a bikini at 53 — here’s to gracing the cover of one of the world’s most famous fashion magazines at 81.

Jane Fonda is the cover star for British Vogue‘s “non-issue” for the month of May, a special edition produced with L’Oréal Paris that’s targeted at women age 50 and up. (Kate Moss, 45, covers the magazine’s official May cover.)

That includes Fonda, who celebrated her 81st birthday last December. The actress — whose current show, Grace and Frankie, tackles numerous issues relevant to mature women — told the magazine that she’s proud of her age.

“I like being over the hill because I’ve discovered there’s a whole new landscape,” she shared. “I’m fond of age. I’m glad I’ve lived this long.”

The L’Oréal ambassador‘s full issue isn’t out until Friday, but a sneak peek shared by the magazine on social media shows her gracing the cover in a fringed, shoulder-baring design by Tom Ford. Inside, she’s rocking black and silver Gucci sequins and studded black boots from Azzedine Alaïa.

Fans are already raving about Fonda — who worked as a fashion model before following in father Henry Fonda’s acting footsteps — and her glam looks, with some dubbing her a “goddess” and an “icon.”

“What a woman!” gushed one commenter.

“Love it!” read another comment. “Women like Jane should be on the cover of Vogue!”

“I’m so here for this cover,” a fan wrote. “I adore the diversity of the British Vogue covers since [editor-in-chief] Edward Enninful took over. We’ve had models of all races, sizes and ages! Well done.”

“She is so goals,” added a commenter, while another wrote, “So much class!! Beautiful.”

The issue hits newsstands on Friday, April 5.
