The Friends theme song may say "I'll be there for you," but when it comes to the Emmy awards, at least one of them won't be. Fans hoping for a red carpet follow-up to this year's wildly successful Friends: The Reunion at the Emmys will be disappointed tonight, because though the special, which debuted on HBO Max this spring, is nominated for four Emmys, Jennifer Aniston AKA Rachel Green has already confirmed that she will not be making an appearance for the award show.

Last Monday, on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Aniston told the host in no uncertain terms that she won't be in attendance. "No, I will not be going," she said. "I think Ben Winston, our producer and director, [who's] incredible, who put the whole thing together [will go]." Aniston further explained that she's been taking "baby steps" into public events again in the wake of the pandemic. "This is a big step for me to just be here," she added.

The James Corden-hosted reunion special, which reunited the Friends cast to relive some of their favorite moments from the series and tell behind the scenes stories, is nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, as well as Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special. And while we may know that Aniston won't be making an appearance it's not clear whether the rest of the cast will be in attendance for the show or not.
