TikTok user cts.trphe called followers' attention to the "vocal tic" Aniston brought to "the beginning of every single sentence that she starts."
Acting. Jennifer Aniston is good at it — so much so that we're still discussing Rachel Green's mannerisms nearly two decades after Friends aired its final episode.
Last month, TikTok user cts.trphe called followers' attention to the "vocal tic" Aniston brought to "the beginning of every single sentence that she starts." The aforementioned "vocal tic" is really just Aniston clearing her throat before she speaks — but she does it a lot.
Of course, this isn't actually the first time the internet has identified Rachel's vocal habit. People have been analyzing the sitcom for nearly 27 years, and the mannerism is kind of Rachel canon at this point.
And, as many Twitter users have pointed out, it feels more like a character choice than a "tic."
More fake news. That "verbal tic" that Jennifer Aniston has in Friends? Yeah, no, that's called acting. She clears her throat when her character is uncomfortable with what she is saying (because it's a lie, or awkward, etc).

I'm not even a "Friends" fan and I can tell that it's not a Jennifer Aniston Vocal Tic it's a Rachel tic. Watch Jennifer in interviews and she doesn't do it.

So many articles about Jennifer Aniston's vocal tic while on Friends. If everyone is saying you can't un hear it then why tf would I want to know what it is?! Leave my old millennial, side hair parting, skinny jean loving ass alone and let me keep something sacred . #Friends

OK, Rachel Green does do this a lot.
Still, the sheer amount of throat-clearing that emanated from Aniston within Friends' 10-season run is really rather impressive. If there was an award for Most Consistent On-Screen Vocal Habit, Aniston would at least be nominated.
