On Friday, Jessica Mulroney took to Instagram to address recent rumors about her friendship with Meghan Markle.

"I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday," Mulroney wrote on her Instagram Story, per People. "Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it. Done."

Mulroney, a stylist and TV personality, just recently returned to social media after taking a months-long hiatus, prompted by Sasha Exeter's claims that she had displayed "textbook white privilege." Mulroney at first publicly apologized to Exeter, a Black influencer—but then Exeter posted a screenshot of a DM Mulroney sent her, which read, "Liable [sic] suit. Good luck."

Soon after, Mulroney's wedding planning show I Do Redo was pulled from Canadian channel CTV, and she said she would step back from social media and other professional appearances, including her gig as a fashion contributor for Good Morning America. Mulroney's husband Ben—who also happens to be the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney—also stepped down from his role as the anchor of CTV's ETalk, saying he hoped to make space for a "new voice" (Ben continued to host CTV's Your Morning, and planned to continue his relationship with ETalk in other ways, such as hosting red carpets).

In the wake of the controversy, Page Six and other tabloids published articles suggesting that Mulroney's relationship with Meghan was growing strained—seemingly prompting Mulroney's condemnation of a "hurtful storyline" in her recent Instagram Story.
