Judge Allows Justin Bieber to Subpoena Twitter to Identify Sexual Assault Accusers

A judge granted Justin Bieber's legal team a motion to subpoena Twitter, People reports. Evan Spiegel, Bieber's lawyer, said that he and the rest of his team hope to learn the identities of the women that accused Bieber of sexual assault. Back in June, People reported that an anonymous Twitter user came forward with claims that she was sexually assaulted by Bieber in 2014. Bieber refuted the claims and days later, he filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit. His team said that the accusations were "factually impossible."

"We just want to uncover who is behind these two accounts and it may be the same person," Spiegel said, according to Los Angeles's NBC4. However, it's not a quick process. NBC4 noted that it could take several months for Twitter to hand over the information.

Though the Twitter user originally went by the name Danielle, she and another accuser, Kadi, are identified as Jane Doe 1 and 2 in Bieber's suit. Past court documents claim that the case is "factually impossible, and disproven both by indisputable documentary evidence and the individuals’ own admissions." Spiegel said that legal proceedings couldn't move forward without real names,

"Danielle fabricated her sexual encounter with Bieber at the Four Seasons Hotel because it was publicly reported that Bieber had dinner at the Four Seasons Restaurant on March 10, 2014 and presumed that Bieber was at the hotel because of the public reports of him dining at the restaurant," the filing, previously obtained by People reads. "However, even though Bieber went to the restaurant, he did NOT stay at the Four Seasons Hotel."

The other accuser stated that Bieber invited her to a hotel suite in New York City after the 2015 Met Gala before assaulting her. Bieber refuted that, saying, he "was actually at the Met Gala after-party with dozens of witnesses."
