Kate Beckinsale Explained Her Mystery Hospital Visit — and It Involved Leggings
Back in September, Kate Beckinsale went to the hospital. And while rumors swirled about exactly why, nobody ever got the whole story — until now. During an appearance on The Late Late Show, Beckinsale explained that she hurt herself, but it wasn't because of a risky stunt sequence or any sort of on-set accident. Instead, the star of five Underworld movies and Van Helsing got hurt while trying to slip into a pair of leggings.
"Having done eight- or nine-hundred action movies, I hurt myself putting on a pair of leggings in my hotel room," she told host James Corden. "I was doing a very intense emotional drama and not running up walls or anything. I was in my hotel room putting on a pair of leggings, and it felt like a sort of guitar string snapped and everything was horrible."

Beckinsale went on to say that the pain was worse than giving birth.
"I couldn't walk, I couldn't lie down, I couldn't sit down. I couldn't do anything," she said, adding that she had to be taken to the hospital in a very undignified way. "Eventually an ambulance came and they sort of rolled out a sheet and picked me up in it like a sort of sausage, and put me on a gurney."
Beckinsale noted that she's feeling better now and that all that she could do to recover was rest — and take a lot of medication.
"I'm not a 'Do you know who I am? Have you seen all my films?'-type, which is a huge relief because I'm really glad I'm not," she said, noting that instead of blowing up her IMDb page while under the influence, she got irrationally paranoid thanks to her medication's side effects. "But I am a 'Everybody's trying to steal my fucking ovaries.'"
