The “Kate Effect” is back and in full swing, this time for an article of clothing that’s surprisingly practical — a floral face mask.

Following two public appearances this week where Kate Middleton was seen wearing the personal protective equipment, searches for the style surged 185 per cent in less than 24 hours in the U.K.

According to a report by Lyst, the “most commonly used search terms alongside face masks the following day were ‘floral,’ ‘Liberty print’ as well as ‘ditsy print.’”

For her first appearance, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out this week to deliver a donation of more than 10,000 items to baby banks in the U.K., in an effort to provide essentials for families that are struggling to provide for their newborns and infants during the pandemic.

The Duchess wore the mask for a second time this week on an trip to Barry Island in South Wales, where she accompanied Prince William and met with local business owners that are in the process of getting back on their feet following the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Designed by British kidswear label Amaia, the Adult Reusable cotton face mask is made using a feminine Wiltshire Liberty floral outer layer, and comes with 5 filter inserts for added protection while in use.

The £15 ($26 CAD) mask is currently only available for pre-order, but luckily the floral style is one that’s readily available if you’re after a duchess-approved look for your next socially-distanced outing.
