Kate Middleton Is Focusing on Her Family as She Recovers From Surgery

Despite ongoing speculation about Kate Middleton's health, the Princess of Wales is focused on her family right now.

Kate had abdominal surgery back in January, and at the time, Kensington Palace said, "She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private." The Palace reiterated her wish for privacy last week, as rumors on social media regarding Kate's recovery reached a fever pitch. The conversation quieted only after multiple outlets published an unauthorized paparazzi photo of the Princess riding in a car with her mom, Carole Middleton.

"My understanding right now is that Kate is very much focusing on her recovery and her family," Victoria Murphy, T&C's Contributing Editor, says."There is so much noise around this, especially on social media, but I think she does have a certain ability to shut that out and focus on her personal life when needed. From what I understand, while she has been in communication with staff, she is really just focused on recovery and family right now."

There's no specific timeline for Kate's return to public duties, though Kensington Palace has said it will not be until after Easter at the earliest. On Easter Sunday, the British royal family typically attends services at St George's Chapel in Windsor. Last year, Kate and William brought their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louisto church to mark the holiday, but it has yet to be confirmed which members of the Wales family will be in attendance at Easter this year.
