Kate Middleton Goes From Outdoorsy to Preppy with a Switch of a Jacket

Today, the Duchess of Cambridge gave a master class in the importance of outerwear, changing her look completely by just swapping out her jacket. During a visit to Cumbria, a county in northwest England, Kate had two engagements, which required quite different outfits. With both of these visits, the Duchess advocated for the beneficial impact time outside has on young people.

First, the Duchess visited the Windermere Adventure Training Center with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. Kate is Honorary Air Commandant of the RAF Air Cadets and joined them for a few outdoor activities. The Duchess showed off her sporty side, mountain biking and mountain climbing. For this active excursion, Kate opted for skinny jeans (proof that they are not entirely out of style), lace-up combat boots, a cream sweater, and an olive-colored, zip-up puffer jacket. She topped off the look with a white helmet, because safety, of course, comes first.

For the second part of her day, The Duchess met with a few of the "Windermere Children," a group of 300 child Holocaust survivors who went to stay in the Lake District in 1945 to rehabilitate after experiencing the horrors of the Nazi regime. The Duchess took a boat ride on the wooden Osprey boat with a few of the survivors, leaving from Wray Castle, a neo-gothic building owned by the National Trust.

As her second outing did not require athletic excursion, the Duchess changed her look completely by switching jackets. She went from an outdoorsy outfit to a preppy look by putting on a plaid, belted blazer, accented with sizable pockets. Twitter account What Kate Wore flagged a post, identifying the jacket as from British brand Really Wild.
