Kate Middleton just sported a rare low bun, showcasing her new fringe beautifully
Taking her signature beauty look in a different direction, the Princess of Wales just debuted a polished low-slung bun for an appearance in Kent to promote her Shaping Us campaign on early childhood – a hairstyle rarely sported by HRH.
Kate looked happy and relaxed in the elegant up-do, which showcased her new curtain bangs perfectly, and is not dissimilar to the styles regularly sported by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex (and queen of the divisive 'messy bun').
Kate's sleek alternative, positioned at the nape of her neck, featured glossy weaving and soft volume throughout, while the front of her hair was kept simple and modern with her softly tousled fringe. Indeed, it was the perfect style to properly showcase hew new cut, a fringe that elegantly frames her face without appearing blunt.
The Princess of Wales paired the look with a letterbox-red Zara blazer, complete with gold buttons and a pair of subtle gilded hoops. Her make-up was classic Kate: soft brown smoky eyes, a flush of gentle sun-kissed colour and a neutral pink lip – a lesson in feature-enhancing, everyday beauty.
While this particular hairstyle is a rarity in the princess' beauty repertoire, it isn't the first time Kate has veered outside her beauty comfort zone this year. For the Easter Sunday service, the royal adopted an unconventionally vibrant manicure, subverting tradition (and perhaps even protocol) by opting for a bold, red hue for the occasion.
It's hard to deduce whether these new style ventures will set a precedent for royal beauty to come; what we do know is that we'll never tire of a chic hairstyle that elevates the everyday.
