After returning from summer break (the royals typically take a few weeks off from public duties in August), the Duchess of Cambridge is back to work. Kate looked ready for fall as she visited the Royal Air Force base, RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. The Duchess opted for a neutral blazer over a white blouse and black trousers. She finished off the look with a small top-handled bag.

During her visit, the Duchess will meet with individuals involved in evacuating UK civilians from Afghanistan. She is also speaking with both military personnel and civilians involved in Operation PITTING, which, per Kensington Palace, was the largest British humanitarian aid operation in 70 years. PITTING ran between August 14 and 28, with the Royal Air Force evacuating 15,000 people out of Kabul. Roughly 850 of those individuals were brought to RAF Brize Norton. Additionally, the Duchess of Cambridge will spend time with volunteers who helped support the evacuees upon their arrival in the UK.

The massive evacuation came after the Taliban's offensive effort, resulting in the group's takeover of Afghanistan. Operation PITTING evacuated 5,000 British nationals, 8,000 Afghans vulnerable to persecution by the Taliban, and more than 2,000 children. The military operation marked the end of the UK's 20-year military campaign in the country.

Both after the evacuation and in honor of the 20-year anniversary of the September 11 attacks, many members of the royal family have spoken out, sharing their support for veterans and military families. Both the Queen and Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, shared statements on social media last week. Additionally, Prince Harry recently co-hosted an event with First Lady Jill Biden, honoring veterans and their loved ones.
