Kate Middleton Puts a Regal Spin on St. Patrick’s Day Style

The Duchess of Cambridge opted for a sleek olive coat by Alexander McQueen.

For every important engagement on her calendar, Kate Middleton never fails to find a royally gorgeous outfit to mark the occasion. Take the festive coat she wore around Christmas time this past December, for instance. Today, The Duchess attended the first Battalion Irish Guards St. Patrick’s Day Parade just outside of London with husband her husband Prince William, and chose an ensemble that was perfectly suited for the celebrations. She embraced the day’s all-green-everything vibe—but in an ultra-sophisticated way, of course—leaving the bright green beads and kitschy top hat at home.

For the event, Middleton wore an olive green topcoat by one of her favorite and most-worn labels, Alexander McQueen. With its sharp-shouldered line, nipped waist, and gold buttons, it proved to be an appropriate nod to St. Patrick’s Day without being too cheesy or on-the-nose. Still, she didn’t totally forgo the signature motifs associated with the holiday: on her left side, she pinned a simple gold shamrock brooch. She then accessorized the look further with royal-approved pieces including a matching olive fascinator, green tourmaline and amethyst earrings by London-based jeweler Kiki McDonough, and classic black pumps. All in all, an ensemble that was worthy of its own parade.
