From Town & Country

When Prince George headed back to school this morning, he was likely sporting some new kicks. We don't have photographic evidence of the youngster's outfit on his first day of Year 1 at Thomas's Battersea (Will and Kate opted to not release a picture this year), but a few weeks ago Duchess Kate reportedly took both George and Charlotte back-to-school shoe shopping at Peter Jones in London.

A source told Hello! that when the Duchess of Cambridge popped into the store, which stocks George's adorable school uniform, she made a classic parenting mistake: her kids didn't bring socks.

Duchess Kate "proved she makes parenting mistakes just like the rest of us, by turning up to purchase the shoes without one crucial item–their socks!" reads the British publication. "The children, who were wearing summer sandals, had to borrow a pair from the shop in order to try on their smart new shoes."

Kate has always been a hands-on mom when it comes to her children's education. She snapped the sweet photographs of Princess Charlotte on her first day of nursery school back in January. And it was even reported that Kate took George to school the day after she gave birth to his younger brother Prince Louis.

This year, Kate might have to help George with his homework. In addition to classes in math, science, history geography, and the arts, the five-year-old future King will be bringing home nightly reading assignments to work on at Kensington Palace.
