Kate Middleton's Latest Outfit Is the Definition of Business on Top, Party on the Bottom

After kicking off her photography project Hold Still more than a year ago, Kate Middleton finally had a chance to celebrate its success. Yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge hosted a special event to thank those who helped make the project possible, and for the occasion, she delivered a lesson in tonal dressing with a twist.

Pulling out one of her signature style moves in a monochrome outfit, Kate turned a neutral into a powerful sartorial statement while wearing a chic all-white midi dress that was business on top, party on the bottom. The garment featured a tailored belted blazer that effortlessly transitioned into a pleated chiffon skirt with a see-through lace hemline, and she paired the surprising combo with classic stylings: a high ponytail, her sapphire engagement ring, and silver drop earrings.

On Instagram, Kate shared photos from the event, thanking representatives from the National Portrait Gallery, Book Fairies UK, Co-op, and more for their involvement in the project. "Thank you to the brilliant partners who made Hold Still a reality!" she wrote. "It took a long time to bring everyone behind this incredible project together in person but tonight we finally managed it. The idea for #HoldStill2020 came right at the start of the pandemic, and aimed to bring people and communities together, using the amazing power of photography."

She continued, "It was made possible by so many partners - @nationalportraitgallery @coopuk @bookfairies_uk - to name just a few, and what's more remarkable is how it was all orchestrated from kitchen tables and spare bedrooms! The most special thanks must go to the thousands of people across the country who took time to share their experiences of lockdown. Without them, the project really would not have been possible."

Last year, Middleton launched the community photography project in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery to document the UK's mood at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. People from across the country were invited to submit a portrait focused on the themes of Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal, and Acts of Kindness, and this May, a book featuring photos from 100 finalists was published.
