Kate pays tribute to Princess Diana as she and Meghan wear blue and white in stunning new portraits

Fashionable sisters-in-law Kate and Meghan star alongside their royal family in two new portraits released to mark Prince Charles' 70th birthday, and their unique senses of style are perfectly on display. In the casual outdoor shots taken by Chris Jackson at Clarence House, the duchesses pose alongside their husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry, the Prince of Wales and Camilla, plus Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. With the entire clan clad in blue and white, the royals show off their individual interpretations of the dress code, with Kate in a spotted shirtdress and Princess Diana's sapphire earrings and Meghan turning once again to a sleeveless, figure-hugging dress.

The mother of three beams in the new photos as she holds her six-month-old son in her arms, wearing a silk crepe de chine design by Alessandra Rich. The $2,100 midi dress features a polka-dot print with bold shoulders and white cuffs, collar and buttons. If the number looks familiar, that's because a photograph of Kate holding Prince Louis as he grasps his grandfather's hands, also taken by Chris Jackson on this same day, was featured in the documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70. It was also the outfit that Meghan's Suits co-star, Abigail Spencer, wore to her royal wedding back in May.

As her absence is surely felt during any family milestone, the 36-year-old also chose to pay tribute to Prince William's late mother, Princess Diana, by wearing her sapphire earrings, which are believed to be a gift from her husband following their engagement. Each sapphire is surrounded by ten diamonds, and while the late Princess of Wales wore them as studs, her daughter-in-law had them adapted into more modest drop earrings. A wedding gift from Crown Prince Fahd, Diana famously wore the pair after Prince Harry's birth in 1985. Kate finished the look with her copper-highlighted locks in soft waves and her usual taupe smokey eye and rosy cheeks.

Adorably doubled over with laughter in the more candid photo, Meghan is the picture of happiness as she joins her new family to mark this exciting occasion. In contrast to her sister-in-law, the 37-year-old opted for one of her favourite silhouettes - a figure-hugging sleeveless dress with a slim belt - in a clean white hue with a navy stripe at the neckline and a pencil skirt that falls just past the knees. She anchored the look with navy pumps, frosted her ears with silver drop earrings and slipped two delicate gold bands on the pointer and middle finger of her right hand. The expectant royal accentuated her eyes with a bronzed smoky finish and wore her wavy brown locks pulled to one side.

As she cuddles up to her step-granddaughter on a wooden bench, Camilla looks fresh in a cream dress with three-quarter sleeves and her Van Cleef & Arpels dragonfly brooches, one in diamond and one in sapphire, plus pearl drop earrings. Princess Charlotte wears one of her pretty floral collared short-sleeved dresses in baby blue with Mary Jane shoes and white socks, while her brother George sits on his grandpa's lap in a blue-and-white striped collarless shirt, navy shorts and navy knee-high socks with black penny loafers. Smiling Louis melts hearts in baby blue shorts and a little white collared shirt.

Ever one to show his flair for dressing, the man of the hour, Prince Charles, looks dapper in a navy pinstripe suit with a pink shirt and similarly patterned tie and pocket square. Prince William and Harry, meanwhile, kept their looks simple in blue jackets and white shirts unbuttoned at the collar. But when they gather to celebrate the Prince of Wales's birthday at a glittering gala on Wednesday (Nov. 14), hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace, the six adults will be dressed to the nines as they mingle with visiting royalty like Crown Prince Frederick and Princess Mary of Denmark and Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.
