The Princess of Wales has certainly shown her commitment to rewearing beloved statement pieces in her wardrobe. Over the years, the royal has gained a reputation for recycling fashion for different occasions; not only is the habit sustainable, but it also goes to show how timeless personal style can trump the latest fashion trend any day.

During her latest public appearance in Wales on Wednesday, Kate once again delved into her personal archives to bring out a tweed military green jacket by Ralph Lauren, which she first wore to a public engagement in 2007 (for context, that was the time period when she was still dating her husband-to-be, Prince William—about three years before they officially married). The collared jacket features buttoned closures, suede chest patches, front pockets, and a silhouette that flares out from the waist. Now, nearly 20 years later, Kate has remained true to her personal style code by styling the jacket in the same way.

Just as she had back in 2007, Kate paired the jacket with a long midi skirt—a Gucci piece that perfectly embodies winter’s paired back, cosy countryside trend thanks to its autumnal tartan pattern and pleated design—and slouchy suede Gianvito Rossi boots with a pointed toe. She changed things up with the top half of her outfit, swapping out her original collared blouse for a warm brown turtleneck.

Earlier in the day, Kate made a different kind of fashion statement by arriving at the Pontypridd Market in a bold red winter coat. At the time, she appeared to wear the same suede Gianvito Rossi boots and chocolate brown turtleneck.

The visit to Wales, to coincide with St David's Day, comes as Kate makes her return to public life after she recovers from chemotherapy.

Earlier this year, she made a solo visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital where she thanked doctors and spoke to other cancer patients, urging them to “keep doing things that give you joy”.
