Kathy Griffin has some brutal words for Melania Trump

With continuing debate over the United States’ border separation policy heating up, both politicians and their family members are getting called out by celebrities and constituents.

Melania’s spokeswoman made a statement about immigrant children being separated from their families, saying “Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can come together to achieve successful immigration reform.”

The comedian, who is currently on the road for her “Laugh Your Head Off Tour,” did not mince words when she retweeted FLOTUS’s statement, writing “You know damn well your husband can end this immediately.” She also pulled out a word recently lobbed at the president’s daughter, “feckless.”

The discussion over the border separation policy continues to divide the country. On Friday, President Trump again blamed Democrats for the policy, even though that’s not exactly accurate.

Griffin was not alone in sharing her outrage. Singer and Oscar winner John Legend retweeted Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s video message for Father’s Day but added a comment: “Reunite the families at the border and we can talk about father’s day.”

People have also been criticizing Ivanka Trump for her Father’s Day post. The first daughter wished her husband and her dad a happy Father’s Day on Instagram, and commenters quickly linked it with the border policy.

“I don’t understand how you sleep at night,” one person commented. “It must be nice to have your criminal father around you for Father’s Day,” another wrote.

Griffin is no stranger to politically-linked controversy. She found herself in major hot water in May 2017 after posing with a severed replica of President Trump’s head in a photo shoot.

She got death threats. She lost work. She was investigated by the government. She was trolled by Trump supporters. She lost friends. (Ahem, Anderson Cooper.)

And now, as she embarks on the “Laugh Your Head Off” comeback tour, she’s no longer apologizing. In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, she defiantly promised that her new comedy show will address the “big orange elephant” in the room.
