Katie Holmes wore the chicest cashmere cardigan - plus 5 cheaper chunky knits to buy now

With summer coming to an end and temperatures beginning to drop, there’s one transitional item we should all own: a cardigan.

And actress Katie Holmes is already sporting the trend.

The newly single mum-of-one was pictured in New York with her daughter Suri Cruise hailing a cab wearing the cutest grandma-chic cashmere cardigan.

And she even took it once step further by wearing a matching cashmere bra underneath.

The matching pair are both by New York label Khaite and, of course, sent social media into a frenzy, with the bra selling out within an hour of Katie wearing it.

On the brand’s website, the Eda Bralette retails for $520 (£427.15), while the Scarlet Cardigan comes in at an eye-watering $1,540 (£1,265.05).

The cardigan’s description reads: “Accented by fisherman’s rib-stitched trim, patch pockets, and tortoiseshell buttons, this deep v-neck cardigan envelops the body in mid-weight cashmere selected for its exceptional softness and robust texture. The cropped silhouette is balanced by relaxed, extended sleeves.”

Katie’s understated look was the perfect transitional ensemble, styling her matching pair with straight-leg jeans, black mules, large black sunglasses by Westward Leaning x Olivia Palermo and a sleek leather cross-body bag.

Forgoing a top with a cardigan is the ultimate nod to the ‘90s, which saw Christina Aguilera sporting the style back in 1999.
