Keeping Up with Bristol? Sarah Palin’s Daughter Joins This MTV Reality Show
Can’t think all the way back to 2008? It was the year that Mamma Mia! hit theaters; the year that Flo-Rida’s “Low” topped the Billboard charts; and indeed, the year the world learned that 17-year-old Bristol Palin, the daughter of Republican presidential hopeful John McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, was expecting her first child with her boyfriend at the time, Levi Johnston.
So what’s Bristol—now 27—up to now? Well, she’s officially confirmed to star in MTV’s Teen Mom OG. She shared the news on Instagram on Friday, writing, “I look forward to sharing my experiences and hope that I can help others on their journey.” Since giving birth to her first son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, in 2008, she also welcomed daughters Sailor Grace, 2, and Atlee Bay, 14 months, with Dakota Meyer, who filed for divorce in February after they married in 2016.

Reactions from previous Teen Mom stars have been pretty shady. Teen Mom 2’s Kailyn Lowry wrote on Twitter, “Bristol plain & Cheyenne & Cory for Teen Mom OG? Our producers sure know what to do,” later adding that she’s “not hating whatsoever” and that she’s “just surprised.”

According to Page Six, Farrah Abraham, who left the show after a legal battle with MTV’s parent company Viacom, threw a jab as well. “MTV has already tried to replace myself with another teen mom. It was unsuccessful and now with another teen mom, they can keep trying to replace but there is not a replacement for me [sic],” she told Page Six via email. K.
At least Bristol’s got one person on her side: her mom.
“Wow! Go to Bristol’s Instagram bsmp2 ~ the opportunity she has to help others along life’s (challenging) journey is exciting & outstanding!!! I am so proud of her ~ and all my kids… they’re my world,” Sarah wrote on Instagram. “They know to share the blessings, knowledge, experiences God’s provided in order to HELP others in a hurting world. Doors open, bust through those doors!”

Sarah herself is no stranger to reality TV. She starred in her own series, Sarah Palin's Alaska, from 2010 to 2011. The short-lived show was broadcast on TLC.
Do we think she’ll tune in each week on MTV? You betcha!
