Kelly Clarkson Has Been Awarded Primary Custody of Her Children

She and ex Brandon Blackstock are in the midst of their divorce.

Kelly Clarkson has been given primary custody of her two children amid her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

According to People, court documents state that a Los Angeles county judge ruled that "under the circumstances present in this case, the interest in providing stability and continuity for the minor children weighs in favor of [Clarkson] having primary custody."

Clarkson is currently in divorce proceedings with Blackstock, and will have custody of their two children, six-year-old daughter River and four-year-old son Remington.

The document adds that "the level of conflict between the parents has increased. The parties have a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them."

People reports that Clarkson will allow Blackstock to visit their children at her L.A. residence and that the couple will share joint physical and legal custody, but Clarkson will have primary physical custody in Los Angeles.

Clarkson filed for divorce in July of this year, and has hinted that her upcoming album may address the divorce.

"What I'm dealing with is hard because it involves more than just my heart, it involves a lot of little hearts. We have four kids," she said about the split. "Divorce is never easy. We're both from divorced families, so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts."
