Kelly Clarkson Clapped Back at a Troll That Blamed Her Divorce on Her Work Ethic

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock Had Reportedly "Been Like Friends for a While"

Quarantining together "exacerbated any issues."

The trolls came for Kelly Clarkson, but she didn't let anything get her down. When a Twitter user called her out, saying that her work ethic and busy schedule were the reasons that her marriage "didn't work," Clarkson clapped right back, telling the critic to "aim higher please."

When news broke of Clarkson filling in for Simon Cowell on America's Got Talent while he recovers from surgery, Twitter user AnnieB64135937 decided that Clarkson's workload, which includes being a judge on The Voice as well as hosting her talk show, was why she couldn't keep her marriage to Brandon Blackstock work.

"No wonder her marriage didn't work...surprise she has time for her kids...not the good old country girl we fell in love with...it's all about Kelly being on tv...and no one else...no tears for her...but for her kids," AnnieB64135937 wrote.

Clarkson replied, saying that shaming a "great mom" with a "great work ethic" was uncalled for. In regards to her gig on AGT, the singer noted that she was filling in for a friend and insisted that AnnieB64135937's comment wasn't a real reflection of who she is deep down.

"Wow. Shaming a woman who has a great work ethic, is a great mom, and who steps up and fills in when a friends [sic] asks for a favor because that's actually what 'good old country girls' do .... this can't be who you are deep down," Clarkson wrote. "I have more faith in your heart. Aim higher please."
