Kelly Clarkson held nothing back when giving a fan dating advice.

During an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer had some tough love for a fan asking how to take things with her crush off Instagram and into the real world. "My crush only uses Instagram to message me and he sends me heart eyes emojis. He hasn’t asked for my number. How do I convince him to take our relationship to the next level and actually text?”

Before handing down her brutally honest opinion, Kelly warned, "I have advice but I don't know if you want it." Revealing that the man might not share the woman's feelings, she said, "I don’t understand why you would want to be with someone that only does it in front of people, that’s my thing.“

She continued, "Like, if they’re only going to show you they care in front of people. You need to know what’s happening behind closed doors, not in front of the doors because that’s who you’re going to be with." Kelly added that the situation reminded her of the book He's Just Not That Into You. "And that's OK because we've all been there,” she said. “It's not just you."

Clarkson's comments come shortly after she split from her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock. While opening the season premiere of her talk show back in September, she admitted that she was blindsided by the divorce, but wouldn't go into detail for the sake of the couple's two children, River, 5, and Remington, 4. "Definitely didn't see anything coming that came," Kelly previously shared. "I’m usually very open, and I usually talk about everything, but in this case, I will talk a little bit here and there about how it affects me personally but probably won’t go too far into it because I’m a mama bear and my kids come first."

While she won't outright discuss the situation on her show, the singer's upcoming album might subtly shed some light on went wrong. "This next record, this will probably be the most personal one I've ever released," she said in a clip from her interview for Sunday Today With Willie Geist. "The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now, and it's been very therapeutic for me."
