- Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos spilled on Monday that their daughter, Lola, walked in on them having sex this past Sunday.
- Even though many found the story to be hilarious, some are saying the Live With Kelly and Ryan co-host and Riverdale star revealed too much.
During Monday's episode of ABC's Live With Kelly and Ryan, both Kelly and her husband, who was filling in for Ryan Seacrest, revealed that their 18-year-old daughter walked in on them having sex this past Sunday. What's more, the unfortunate run-in happened on Lola's birthday.
"It happened again," Mark recalled in front of the show's audience. "She [Lola] knocked on our door, our bedroom door.”
Kelly then jumped in to fill in the details. She explained that her in-laws and other kids - Michael and Joaquin- were all downstairs ready to have a family brunch. Even though she wasn't really "in the mood," she and Mark decided to fool around a bit. But then, suddenly, Lola came into their bedroom. As Kelly put it, Lola "made eye contact" with her, but didn't see anything else (thankfully).
“She shuts the door and you hear, ‘You just ruined my birthday! And my life! And I used to see in color and now everything is gray,'” Kelly told the audience.
As one can imagine, things were then pretty awkward at the brunch table.
“We’re eating, and we’re like, ‘This is delicious, that’s delicious,’ and she [Lola]'s like, ‘You’re disgusting,'” Kelly said, while Mark added, “She goes, ‘You guys have no chill. You think you’re 20, but you’re not.'”
While most folks found the story to be hilarious, many online seemed to think the whole situation was TMI to the max. Several commenters asked, "why did they talk about this on TV?" and "Why put that out there? So Lola can be further humiliated?" One viewer went as far as to call the story "freaking gross!"
To be fair to Kelly, the longtime talk show host has made it clear that she respects her kids' privacy. With her daughter, for instance, she told Jimmy Fallon back in October 2017 that she's "not allowed to post a photo of Lola ever" on any social media platform unless she approves it. Given that she's (generally) abided by that rule, there's a good chance the famous parents talked it through with their daughter before the show on Monday morning.
But even if they didn't, this is hardly the first time Kelly and Mark have shared intimate details about their sex life on TV. Back in February 2017, the couple made headlines when Kelly commented on how her husband was "mean" to her after having sex. When the story garnered a lot of negative attention, she later apologized and said she was only "joking."
All in all, whether or not you think Kelly and Mark said too much, the moral of the story is maybe the couple should start double checking that the bedroom door is locked. Just a friendly suggestion.
