Kelly Ripa's got "a bone to pick" with Stephen Colbert. Apparently, he indirectly got her youngest son into trouble in school once.

Appearing as a guest on Wednesday's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Ripa told a story that any mom can relate to – she was sent a note from her kid's irked teacher. The incident happened years ago, when Joaquin (now 13) was 9 years old and brought Colbert's children's book to school. And if you weren't aware that the former Daily Show correspondent wrote a book for kids – well, I wasn't either, and now you know, too.

The Live! With Kelly host explained how the book had wound up in her possession. Back in 2012, Colbert had appeared on her morning show to promote his then-new book, I Am a Pole (And So Can you!), and left her a copy that Joaquin eventually got his hands on. The book, as Colbert described it, is "about the adventures of a pole that doesn't know what kind of pole it is."

Though the book is largely kid-friendly and intended for younger eyes, being that its author is Colbert, there are obviously some portions that tow the line of child-appropriateness. The portion that got Joaquin in trouble four years ago, as read aloud by Ripa during her appearance, found the protagonist pole moonlighting as a stripper pole on its quest to figure out what kind of pole it is. "'So I interned as a stripper pole, but I couldn't stand the grind,'" Ripa read aloud, holding up the moderately racy illustration of a half-naked stripper on good ol' Pole.

The teacher, who'd been reading the book aloud to the class at Joaquin's request, apparently had stopped there and refused to keep reading. Later, Ripa got a note back from the teacher in the book, wondering whether the mom of three had read the book first before giving it to her elementary schooler to take to class. Ripa had not (clearly).

Even though the actress brought up the story with faux-aggravation, she clearly found the whole situation hilarious and even called it "the greatest school memory [her family has]." "Because nowadays parents are so careful and so good at parenting," Ripa explained. "I became *that* mom."
