Ken Jennings torched by 'Jeopardy!' contestant's savage response: 'You brought back some bad memories'

Ken Jennings continues to do an excellent job as guest host on Jeopardy!, but during Tuesday’s show he was the recipient of some major trolling by a contestant. During the Final Jeopardy! round, money leader Brian Chang turned an incorrect response into a painful response for the temporary host.

The Final Jeopardy! category was the business of travel, and the clue was, “Adjusted for inflation, the nightly rate this company put in its name in 1962 is now $51.”

The correct response was, “What is Motel 6?” While two of the contestants nailed the answer, Chang nailed Jennings by dredging up the past with the response, “What is H&R Block?”

In 2004, Jennings’ historic 74-game win streak came to end when he failed to give that same response in Final Jeopardy!. While Jennings has gone on to win millions of dollars and have the career of his dreams, the response still hurt a little.

Despite being trolled, Jennings was a good sport and gracious host. “I know from experience H&R Block is sometimes the right answer but not today,” Jennings told Chang. “Even though you brought back some bad memories for me, you’re still going to go home with $13,201.”

Jeopardy! fans thought Brian’s answer was savage, but they also liked how Jennings handled the painful memory being brought back up.
