Kensington Palace Won't Let Prince William Tweet

Prince William Revealed the Worst Gift He Gave Kate Middleton

"She's never let me forget that."

Sorry for any royal fans that still believe Prince William and Kate Middleton are actually posting on their royal Twitter handle, @KensingtonPalace. During an appearance on the BBC's That Peter Crouch Podcast, William explained that he doesn't have anything to do with it — and that staffers do their best to keep him off of Twitter altogether. Naturally, there are levels of approval that have to happen when something gets posted to the account and William just isn't in on the whole process. However, fans may have noticed one or two posts that seemed to stick out from the rest. Well, William admitted that he may have managed to get a few of his opinions posted.

The staff "deliberately keep me away" from the official palace account, William told Crouch. One specific occasion where he nabbed control? When Liverpool won the Champions League semi-final playing against Barcelona back in May 2019.

"When Liverpool did that amazing [game against Barcelona] I went mental, I grabbed the Twitter thing and I just posted it," William said. "It was an amazing match. I was literally blown away by it. It was one of the best games of football I've ever seen. And I got completely out of control and I just went, 'Tweet that, get it out. Give it here!'"

In terms of civil disobedience, it was pretty tame. His tweet read, "Well done Liverpool - an incredible result, what a comeback! W."

William noted that soccer (football, whatever) is the thing that riles his desire to tweet. Every time his team of choice, Aston Villa, plays, he wants to get on Twitter. He's only managed two posts so far, but now fans know that if a wayward tweet about soccer comes up, William is probably behind.

"Nearly every Villa game we've won, which hasn't been many this season, I've been trying to get a hold of it," he said. "They keep it away from me now. I have to fight them for it."
