Khloé Kardashian defends having a night off from baby True: 'Mommy shamers are at a high right now'

The Kardashian-Jenner sisters are all too familiar with being mommy-shamed. They’ve been criticized for taking vacations, getting their babies’ ears pierced, letting a 5-year-old have straightened hair, and, now, taking a night off to support a charitable cause.

Khloé Kardashian, for one, is fed up. The reality star, who welcomed daughter True Thompson in April, took to Twitter to call out the comments she received after attending a charity poker event with mom Kris Jenner and sisters Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian.

On Sunday, the family helped raise money for cancer research by turning up for the first If Only poker tournament, which sponsors plan to hold annually, benefiting City of Hope, a private treatment center in California. According to Kardashian, she was ill but took part anyway to support a good cause.

Despite her charitable intentions, some folks weren’t willing to cut the new mom some slack and gave her a hard time about leaving True at home. Kardashian responded to the mommy shaming head-on, noting that her daughter’s father, NBA star Tristan Thompson, was taking care of her.

Her tweet raises a good point: True has two parents — and, while Thompson has been criticized for many things, hitting the road for the NBA playoffs soon after his daughter’s birth hasn’t been one of them. Is it fair that Kardashian gets shamed for taking time off to support a charity?

Her fans say no.

Fear not: The mom-shaming brigade will no doubt find something else to fixate on before the day is out.
