It's a rather sweet gig being a reality TV star, as Kody Brown from the TLC series Sister Wives knows. Per episode, it's predicted that he and his family make anywhere between $25,000 to $40,000 - not too shabby at all. But since Kody and his wives Meri, Robyn, Christine, and Janelle have a lot of mouths to feed and homes to maintain, the Brown family's income has always had fans wondering: How do they afford it all?

First off, does Kody from Sister Wives have a job?

As Bustle rightfully points out, Kody made it clear in the premiere episode of the series in 2010 that he, Janelle, and Meri worked, while Christine and Robyn stayed at home with the kids. Although he never flat-out said what his occupation was, it was implied that he was in online advertising sales (where Radar reports he made about $4,000 a month) before Sister Wives came on air. Before that, E! News found that he was the president of Das Hundhaus Firearms and Accessories. In 2005 though, Kody and Meri reportedly filed for bankruptcy before the show began filming.

Fast forward to 2019, and it's pretty difficult to pinpoint what exactly Kody has been up to. For starters, we know that Kody and his wives launched an online jewelry and clothing line boutique called My Sisterwife's Closet (though, this is reportedly headed by Robyn). Plus, Soap Dirt found that he opened a family business in 2011 entitled Kody Brown Family Entertainment, LLC , but the status is now listed as "canceled." If his recent tweet asking Whole Foods to give him an ad gig is any indication, it looks like Kody may be searching for new opportunities.

And what about Meri?

While Kody's job is still a bit of a mystery, we have a better sense of what Meri has been up to over the years. In 2016, Meri became an ambassador for LulaRoe Fashion line, indicating that she was helping sell the popular women's clothing brand. On top of that, in 2017 she opened a bed and breakfast in Utah called Lizzie's Heritage Inn.

And Janelle?

Hollywood Life called Janelle "the worker bee" of the Brown clan. The publication found that Janelle was the sole proprietor of a company called E Z Pantry, which aimed to "provide, market, design, sell, or trade in the food storage business." It appears Janelle is no longer active with the company (though, this is not confirmed).
