Kristin Chenoweth's Upcoming Concert Will Remind LGBTQ+ Youth That "They’re Loved and They’re Accepted"

From Woman's Day

If you need a little light in your life, singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth is here to help. The multi-hyphenate, multi-talented Chenoweth — who we can all agree has vocal pipes from heaven — will be co-hosting this year's Concert For Love and Acceptance. The concert, which has been put on by country singer and philanthropist Ty Herndon since 2015, has gone virtual this year due to COVID-19, and it can be streamed on CMT's Facebook and YouTube channels on June 30 at 7 p.m. ET.

"Ty Herndon is one of my closest friends, like a brother, and he asked me a year ago if I would co-host with him," Chenoweth tells Woman's Day. "And I said sure! I’ll come to Nashville, and I'll get to meet some great artists, so I was excited about that." Of course, with the coronavirus pandemic, things didn't exactly go to plan, but Chenoweth said after putting so much effort into the show, "we decided we would do it virtually no matter what."

Along with her co-host Cody Alan, Chenoweth will be bringing the audience through a talented range of acts. Those tuning in can expect standout performances from stars including Jake Owen, Everette, Brody Ray, Lauren Alaina, Matt Bomer, Terri Clark, Dennis Quaid, Rita Wilson, and more.

"He's got a great lineup, and I’m honored to be a part of it," Chenoweth says. "I really want our LGBT youth to understand that no matter where they live they’re seen, they’re loved, and they’re accepted. That’s why I got involved. There’s too many kids who don’t think they’re worth it, and they are worth it. This is not a religious issue, this is not a political issue, this is about love and acceptance."

Event proceeds will go towards supporting GLAAD and ACM Lifting Lives.
