Kylie Jenner Mobilized Voters Via Bikini 'Gram

"But are you registered to vote?"

UPDATE 10/2/2020 at 10 A.M.: Kylie Jenner’s bikini thirst trap reportedly worked. According to The Hill, the post, which encouraged followers to vote, actually led to an 1,500% increase in voter registration in the U.S.

Following Kylie Jenner’s Instagram post, the surge in interactions with Vote.org’s registration verification tool speaks to an energy among young Americans who want to make sure their voices are heard this election,” Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey told the outlet.

Kylie Jenner was just lounging in a floral Dior bandeau bikini when she remembered, ah, the future of our country is but a paper ballot away.

The 23-year-old, who’s never been particularly political on social media (though she did reveal that she was voting for Hillary Clinton via Snapchat in 2016), shared a series of thirst traps on Monday.

Clad in the aforementioned bikini, Jenner reminded her followers of the seasonal status: “7th day of fall.” Autumn, in a bikini?? Could the caption be a subtle nod to climate change ... ?

Her next batch of snaps got straight to the point (of the conversation every U.S. resident has been having for the past 8 months — or four years ... ): “but are you registered to vote? click the link in my bio.. let’s make a plan to vote together.”

The call to action was not without a bit of convenient product placement. Is that a bottle of Kylie Skin sunscreen oil we spy in the second frame?

Anyway, the link in Jenner’s bio directs followers (all 196 million of them) to vote.org, where prospective voters can check their registration status.

Jenner provided more information in her Instagram Story as well, giving fans tips and guidelines for the voting process.

“We must all make our voices heard this November,” she wrote. “Now, more than ever, we need change. We have the power to make a difference. But we need to VOTE.”

“Just a few minutes out of our lives, to register, to fill out the ballot, to drop it in a mailbox … that’s all it takes. VOTE.”
